Transport for Greater Manchester
The brief
Each floor at TfGM Head Office has a "wonderwall" as you exit the main lifts or stairs onto the floor. Each floor has a different concept on it, linked to Greater Manchester.
The concept
As the 3rd Floor houses the TfGM IT Team it was only right that I created a concept that had a link to the work that is carried out and the people that work on that floor.
We toyed with ideas such as circuit boards, IT lingo and other stereotypical computer based designs but these just seemed too obvious. I then came up with the idea of replicating the 8-bit graphics from early computer games. But instead of just recreating the games, I decided it would be good to represent the people that work at TfGM, the residents of Greater Manchester and some of the famous faces that make Greater Manchester great.
Each character was based on the 4mm x 4mm grid that I established, making it easy for myself and the team to generate enough characters to fill the 16.5sq.m wall.
